Sintesio profile
Activities
Within the scope of TISPAN NGN Release 1 network architecture, SINTESIO is primarily focusing in interoperability test for PSTN/ISDN Emulation subsystem. Specifically, the SINTESIO’s primary focus is to carry out interoperability tests between signalling platforms that interoperate by means of signalling protocols (SIP, SIP-I, H.323, SIGTRAN), and between signalling platforms and bearer platforms.

In particular, there are several possible inter-working functions between network elements of TISPAN NGN network, TISPAN PSTN/ISDN simulated and emulation access, Legacy NGN networks, which inter-communicate by means of ISUP, DSS1, SIGTRAN, H.323, SIP and SIP-I signalling. As a result, it makes the formal interoperability testing a relatively difficult task. Interoperability scenarios may include, but are not limited to:
-
NGN emulation scenario: Legacy class 4 and class 5 switches are replaced by NGN Core, while preserving Legacy PSTN/ISDN terminals. This migration scenario provides end users the same services as with PSTN/ISDN core nwetwork.
-
NGN simulation scenario: legacy networks are replaced with an IP-based architecture, where class 5 and class 4 switches are replaced by call servers and media gateways. Moreover, legacy terminals and access networks are also replaced with IP-based equipment. This scenario provides similar services to many of the PSTN/ISDN services.
-
Interworking between NGN Core and PSTN/ISDN networks: With this type of scenarios, interworking is taking place between NGN terminals connected to the infrastructure and legacy terminals connected to the same infrastructure or to the PSTN/ISDN.
-
Interworking between NGN Core and other SDO NGN networks: With this type of scenarios, interworking is taking place between NGN Core and other NGN infrastructure, that may be defined by other standard deliver organizations (e.g. IETF ).
SINTESIO testlab is open to industry (vendors, operators, equipment manufacturers, system integrators), research institutions and universities, standard delivery organizations, forums and interested groups.
