12.00 – 12.30 Evolving NGN: Practical experience in development and implementation of different next generation technologies

Andrej Kos, Lab. For Telecommunications, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia)

The presentation provides an overview of activities and experiences in development, design and implementation of next generation infrastructure and services within an academic environment, i.e. Laboratory for Telecommunications, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. Due to continuous involvement in next generation networks concept evolution experiences and findings regarding implementation, test bed deployments and service development will be given that provide an insight into gradual evolution from beginnings of VoIP, through first NGN deployments and FMC to preIMS infrastructure. Experience with some alternative solutions and open source implementations will be presented. Attention will be given to service development and design based on open interface technologies. Latest findings in MMoIP, presence, web and messaging services will be presented that induce social- and community-like characteristics of next generation communications environments. Also other ongoing research and development activities in the field of NGN will be presented.

12.30 – 14.00 Lunch break

14.00 – 16.00 Key technologies for NGN deployments (Part 2)

15.00 – 15.30 IPTV over NGN Environments

Chae-Sub Lee, Vice Chairman, ITU-T FG IPTV

This presentation will focus on the relationship between NGN and IPTV, especially mainly from standard point of view as well as technical aspects. Mutual benefits on both sides should be identified through this presentation; support of managed network capabilities (e.g. traffic management, QoS, Security etc) from NGN; vertical integration for video distribution services from IPTV; horizontal realization aspects from both NGN and IPTV etc. This presentation will include current status of global standard activities and future plans for both based on ITU-T activities.
15.30 – 16.00 New Levels of Business Productivity

Boštjan Virant, Engagement Manager - Telecommunications, Microsoft
